LEIGH Literary Society have speakers covering a wide variety of subjects on the agenda for this season.
The society, which was founded in 1878, meets in the Derby Room, Leigh Library, on alternate Mondays at 7.30pm and meetings began this week with Brian White on the subject "Stick Around".
The rest of the 2004-5 agenda is:
November: 1 Farming Experiences by Ian Addison, 15 The Life and Times of a Butler (illustrated) by Donald Lodge, 29 On the Home Front (illustrated) by Len Hudson.
December: 13 Everything in the Garden's Lovely (illustrated) by Agatha Brown.
January: 10 Luxury Travel by Anne Ongley, 17 Ladykillers by Alan Hayhurst, 31 History of Music Hall (with music) by David Hill.
February: 14 Ancient Iraq and its Civilisation (illustrated) by the Rev Chris Byworth, 28 Frances Hodgson Burnett by Liz Williams.
March: 14 The Natural Heritage of the Pennines (illustrated) by Gordon Yates.
April 4: 4 AGM and Traditional Lancashire Recipes by Fred Holcroft.
Subscription is £13 a year, visitors' admission is £1.50 a meeting.
