MOST people will be well aware that the Disability Discrimination Act of 1995 came into force on Friday, October 1.

However, there is a recently erected de-luxe two-storey "marketing suite" -- belonging to a large company building apartments in Prestwich -- which has an access ramp with a six-inch high step.

This is not accessible to wheelchair-users and, unless there is a provision for the disabled of which I am unaware, this company is now breaking the law.

Incidentally, its construction company logo is: "Considerate Constructors". Is it so in this case?
