I OFTEN wonder what planet Walt Meadows lives on. I refer of course to his out of touch comment that because Queen's Park School - a school in a deprived area which has been poor for years - is still poor that means the government has failed on education.
He only needs to read any independent report or visit any school to see the massive investment going on.
Why not take a trip to St Wilfrid's or Witton Park, Audley or Pleckgate and see for himself the new build.
Gone are the days of the 80s and early 90s when schools placed buckets in the middle of classrooms to catch the water falling through the ceiling and only had a new lick of paint every five years to look forward to.
In health the story is the same, an independent report revealed that waiting times are falling at long last and here in Blackburn we can see for ourselves the massive investment in Queen's Park hospital. New nurses and doctors too.
The same can be seen with regeneration, areas like Darwen, Bank Top, Mill Hill and Audley receiving the biggest investment in housing this country has seen since the Labour government of the 1940s.
Meanwhile Mr Meadows plods on under the directive of the architect of the poll tax and interest rates of 15 per cent - Michael Howard and tries to tell us that this is not really happening.
