WITH reference to S.Hyde's letter published in the Citizen last week under the headline 'Midland will always be ugly'.
Mr Hyde seems to be under a misapprehension the bricks and mortar are not what makes the Midland Hotel so remarkable but the style in which they are put together.
One might as well say Leanardo da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa' is only paint and canvas. Maybe Mr. Hyde would.
I have seen very little of the inside of the inside of the Midland Hotel but from the outside it lends grace and beauty to the skyline of Morecambe despite the deplorable state it has been allowed to deteriorate into.
It is to be hoped that iconoclasts such as Mr Hyde do not get their way and get the building bulldozed.
Keith Roberts, Morecambe.
