CCM DYNAMOS missed out on their opportunity to move to the top of the British Energy North Lancs Football League as they were held 1-1 by Squires.

With leaders Kirkby Lonsdale sitting out Saturday's action, the Dynamos could have overhauled them at the top and looked a good bet as they started brightest in the city 'derby' match.

A goal from Gareth Turner gave them a deserved lead after 20 minutes but they failed to capitalise on the opener.

Squires worked their way back into the game and it was no surprise when Des Martinez levelled the scores at 1-1 before the break - leaving the teams to slug out a goalless second period.

Youngster Lee Sparkes was the hero for Marsh United as he struck twice to end the unbeaten start to the season of Cartmel and District.

Going one better, though, was new signing Mark Tweddle as he scored a hat trick for Storeys in an excellent 4-0 win over Westgate Wanderers to continue their climb up the table.

Moving in the opposite direction are Power Station after being held to a draw by Morecambe Royals - 1-1 the final score.

A goal two minutes from time denied Caton Utd a win at bottom-of-the-table Arnside, where Steve Oliver and Mark Burkitt scored early but Ben Lenton and Robin Walters levelled it up.
