A YOUNG soccer squad is helping to tackle racism in sport.
Hindsford Bandits, who play in the Leigh and District U15s League, are in the front line of the national campaign launched in 1993 'Let's Kick Racism Out of Football'.
The league champions and cup winners, headed by Manager of the Year, Brian Heath, of Standish Street, Tyldesley, has a great sponsor in local takeaway "Top Nosh".
He said: "The restaurant has not only paid for our new kit but the staff, especially Shaz, takes a keen interest in how the lads are doing. Many know Shaz personally and he gives our man of the match a free sample the following week.
"He hasn't a son or relative in the team like many other sponsors, but just loves football and was more than happy to offer his support when I asked him before the start of last season.
"I know this will not totally stop racism in football but every little helps and I and the lads are proud to have Top Nosh as our sponsors and would be more than happy to join a year round multi-cultural league if one were to start."
