Leigh Harriers 21 Burtonwood 12: LEIGH Harriers RL finally got off the mark this season with an excellent win over Burtonwood Bridge.
The first half saw Burtonwood under constant pressure. It wasn't long before the Harriers pressure paid off when a kick through from McNally saw Wilcock lead the chase and score under the posts with Ord slotting over the conversion.
Within 10 minutes Leigh scored again when good drives from the forwards saw Sykes dart in for another try. Again Ord converted to give a half time score of 12-0.
The second half started in similar fashion with Leigh dominating all the plays and some excellent defence from Evans and Parr kept Burtonwood under control. More good work by the forwards gave Leigh good field position and Blackburn scored out wide to stretch the lead even further. Again Ord converted.
With such a big lead, the Leigh side switched off enabling Burtonwood to come back at them and score two quick tries.
However, Leigh stuck to the game plan and reformed again to dominate the game. Impact player Pilkington settled things down with a neat drop goal and a penalty goal from the accurate boot of Ord made the match safe.
