zA FAMILY history group set up by a Darwen woman has helped 74 members make connections with others researching the same family.
The Entwistle Family History Association recently held its fifth annual meeting at the Old Rosins Inn, Pickup Bank, when one of the founder members of the group, Barbara Nightingale, of Darwen, was re-elected as chairman and research co-ordinator.
She will be assisted by Elizabeth Cook, of Conwy, as membership secretary, Jack Entwistle, of Leyland, as treasurer, Tom Entwistle, of Bury as webmaster, and Stephen Entwistle, of Barrow-in-Furness, and Maureen Fisher, of Burnley, as committee members. Mrs Nightingale helped set up the association as a result of an appeal in the Lancashire Family History Society Magazine for someone to co-ordinate research locally into the Entwistle family.
She is a descendant of the Entwistle family herself and has a lot of information about Entwistles in both Darwen and Blackburn.
The association has now been running for five years and Mrs Nightingale is encouraging anyone wanting to find out more about the Entwistle name or wanting to trace ancestors to email entwistle@one-name.org or contact her at 58 Earnsdale Road, Darwen, BB3 1HS.
