SCOUTS spoke to their counterparts in this country and abroad through a jamboree on air.
Members of the 1st Astley troop took part last weekend's event organised by the Manchester Radio Club at their Gin Pit village HQ.
Three of the boys, Charlie Thompson and Shaun Wallis of the 1st Astley and Michael Parsons, a guest from 1st Lowton, passed their radio communications badges by displaying their new found skills.
Scout leader at the Ellesmere Street HQ, Jason Bridson, said: "It has been a great pleasure to host this event which was open to all Leigh and district Scouts. I would like to thank the club for devoting their time and resources to make the weekend such a success and we hope we will see more Scouts participating next year."
Radio club president Don Aitchison said: "We look forward to more Scouts becoming radio amateurs."
Members meets every Thursday at 7.30pm at Astley & Tyldesley Miners' Welfare Club, Gin Pit Village.
