ALAN Cookson (Letters, October 15) asked what the cost is to the ratepayer of the damage caused by people parking their cars part, or wholly, on the pavement.
Through the East Bury Area Board co-ordinator I asked a similar question, because I am not happy about the avoidable costs of an illegal action.
Apparently, while £6.5 million has been spent on the borough's footpaths - in conjunction with road resurfacing work - in the past five years, no figures are available for what proportion of that expenditure went to repair damage caused by vehicles.
