EXTENDING the Disability Discrimination Act is an opportunity, not a worry.
That's the message from Bob Warner, chief executive of Remploy which has a large base at Eton Hill Road, Radcliffe.
Remploy is the UK's leading provider of employment opportunities for disabled people. Mr Warner says the new regulations, which came into force this month, extends the Act to companies employing less than 15 people. And he stresses that the legislation has generally required little or no expense and will also open the eyes of smaller employers to the qualities which disabled people can bring to their business.
Remploy has produced a simple leaflet explaining the requirements that the Act imposes on any organisation offering services to the public, and how they can meet them and reap the benefits.
