BURNLEY fans have rallied round in a bid to improve the atmosphere inside Turf Moor tonight.
Over 250 tickets have been sold for a newly-introduced 'singing section' in the top tier of the James Hargreaves Stand, organised with the help of club officials.
Many supporters believe the volume inside the ground has never been the same since the old Longside was demolished to make way for the all-seater stadium redevelopment.
And organisers hope that the success of the new venture will lead to a return to noisier times.
Burnley FC chief executive Dave Edmundson said: "We merely responded to a suggestion from supporters that we introduce a singing section.
"I thought it was a terrific idea and we instantly looked to see if we could identify an area where these fans could sit together.
"A section of the upper tier of the James Hargreaves Stand - three blocks in from the Cricket Field Stand - was decided upon and the really encouraging thing is how many people want to be involved.
"Over 250 tickets have been sold and, despite offering season ticket holders in that area the chance to move out of that section, none have done so."
Special offers are also in place tonight to try to boost the attendance. Children can gain admission to all parts of the ground for £1, although adult supervision is required in the
lower tier of the James Hargreaves Stand. Adult tickets will be standard grade 'B' prices.
