THE government is paying £100 to anyone who became 70 on or before September 26, 2004. This is to help with council tax and is paid with the winter fuel allowance.
Okay, but what about the people who do not pay council tax, such as those on income support etc.?
This extra £100 will then be a gift because they are getting money to pay something they do not pay.
The government is giving away money unfairly. My £100 will go for my council tax so it is gone. Those who do not pay council tax most likely spend it on cigarettes, drink or some other way of their choice.
This is not fair. The government will be throwing away millions of pounds and they talk about saving money.
