WHILE I do not like to see others suffer I do feel that Janet Anderson getting 'front page billing' because her wheelie bin had been stolen is overdoing things just a tad!
When I loved on Durham Road (a stone's throw from her house) I suffered:
My bin being set on fire twice.
A piece of wood being thrown over my 9ft high wall and breaking a large plant pot.
Kids climbing over my wall when I was out. Was I in any way to blame as I had painted vandal paint on the wall and bolted and padlocked my gate?
Youths stealing my hanging baskets.
Youths breaking my wing mirrors off my car and breaking a side window to steal a bag of old toys for the charity shop.
Someone snapping the bell off my front door.
Youths sitting on my window sill late at night drinking and shouting.
Drunks kicking my car or urinating up against my front door.
Youths with a pellet gun outside my house in the middle of the day and riding motorbikes on the pavement without helmets.
My partner having a bag of rubbish thrown at her head by a boy of about 10 as she pushed a pram along Durham Road with our children inside.
When the police arrived - two days later - they could not find him! Not surprising really. I found the lad; he was a resident at a children's home.
So when Janet Anderson asks where are the parents? Well, actually it was Blackburn with Darwen who were responsible for his care, and the community's safety.
She also declares that she had an excellent response from the police! Cynical people amongst us may say this is because she uttered the words 'Janet Anderson' when logging her complaints!
We are not MPs. So our voice goes unheard.
SHARON NUNEZ, Marsh House Lane, Darwen.
