COLNE had to settle for a point at Holt House after dominating a first half of missed chances.
The Reds made the early running, with Paul Forsyth crossing for an Ian Simpson chance at the far post.
From the last of three James Webster corners, Scott Gizon thundered a header against the bar before a break by Town looked like producing the first goal, only for Ross Baxter to make a fine save.
But, on 30 minutes, Baxter failed to deal with a cross into the box and the ball dropped to Steve Elks to give the visitors the lead against the run of play.
Simpson and Haworth had further chances to level before Forsyth fired just wide from the edge of the box.
The second half never reached the level of the first, with Town happy to defend the lead and the Reds labouring to get back in the game.
Simpson rescued a point for Colne with 17 minutes left, shooting home inside the area for his sixth goal of the season.
