AN appeal was today launched for voluntary rangers to work in Ramsbottom's countryside.
Countryside services in Bury, Bolton and Salford run the Croal Irwell Valley Voluntary Ranger Service.
They want volunteers - who are enthusiastic, motivated and looking for a challenge - to offer their services.
Bury Council countryside ranger Philip Harris said: "The Croal Irwell Valley Voluntary Ranger Service is looking for enthusiastic people over 18 to become volunteer rangers.
"The work the rangers get involved in is varied -- one day they could be patrolling Ramsbottom's Holcombe Hill to Peel Tower.
"The next day they could be trying their hand at dry stone walling, a traditional rural skill, or assisting the running of a countryside event."
