A 20-YEAR-OLD has been found dead in his bed by his distraught parents.
Police are today investigating the mystery death of Gorji Hussain, who was found yesterday morning when his family tried to wake him to eat before starting their daily Ramadan fast.
The former Beardwood High School pupil, of Adelaide Terrace, off Preston New Road, Blackburn, could not be revived. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and that he was apparently fit and healthy before his death.
Gorji is from a well respected and popular family, who were being comforted by friends, neighbours and relatives today.
It is believed he had attended prayer on Sunday evening at a mosque in Preston New Road and had returned home in a happy mood.
A family friend said: "I know the family well, they are a very good and popular family.
"I was shocked when I heard the news - Gorji was an active, normal and very good boy. My deep respect and sympathy is with his family at this time."
The coroner has been informed of the death and police and Mr Hussain's family are awaiting the results of a post mortem examination to try and discover the cause of death.
Inspector Stuart Bruce of Blackburn Police, said: "We can confirm that Mr Hussain was found dead in his bed early yesterday morning.
"His family went to wake him up for breakfast during Ramadan but there was no response from him and he was found to be dead.
"He had not been ill at all and there are no suspicious circumstances. The coroner has been informed and we await the results of a post mortem examination."
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is one of the holiest times of the year for Muslims, who fast during daylight hours in the run up to Eid celebrations.
Mr Hussain's family were today night too upset to comment.
