THERE will be a continental feel to Barnoldswick later this week when a French market comes to town.
Market traders from across the English Channel will be selling local produce in the town centre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Councillor David Whipp hopes the wares will bring visitors into town as well as a little French culture. And if it is a success Barnoldswick may get to experience European culture from bratwurst to paella with traders travelling from Germany, Spain and Italy to sell their wares.
He said: "I can't think of anywhere else round here that has got a French market.
"It puts Barnoldswick on the map and hopefully it will draw in lots of visitors who will spend a little money and also be looking at the local shops.
"If it is a success we hope to take it up in future. The company who runs it also has Italian, Spanish and German markets. I think it's a lovely idea."
