BURNLEY'S six-game winning streak came to an end in controversial circumstances at the weekend.
Tranmere took a two-goal lead in the first half courtesy of two debatable penalties, the first coming in the opening minute.
Burnley fought back and early in the second half Martin Reilly gave the league leaders hope with a firm header.
However, despite pressing hard, the Clarets could not force an equaliser against their closest rivals.
"Coach Terry Pashley said: "It was just one of those days when refereeing decisions went against us.
"I thought we should have had a penalty ourselves in the second half, but it wasn't to be and we have to put the game behind us and move on."
Burnley face Stockport Country this weekend at Gawthorpe (11am KO).
Burnley: Hale, Henry, Reilly, Platt, Trotman, McCann, Pugh, Avery, Lafferty, Taylor, Jones.
