CHORLEY manager John Hughes has asked for patience as he bids to build his own side.
The Magpies chief is continuing his search for new faces to help steer his side up the UniBond First Division after a disappointing start to the campaign.
Hughes was hoping for maximum points from their trip to Rocester on Saturday, but they suffered without fullbacks James Price and Lee Pennington and were held to a 3-3 draw.
The ex-Great Harwood Town manager was trying to boost his squad by bringing in striker Tony Filson, from Wrexham, and midfielder Lewis Hanlon on trial from his former club ahead of tonight's UniBond League Challenge Cup clash at home to Woodley Sports (kick-off 7.45pm).
And while Hughes would love to be in the hat for the next round to boost confidence, he admits his priority has to be the league.
"I came into this job knowing I would have to strengthen the side and I've changed it completely, just as I did at Harwood" he said.
"It took two years to get things how I wanted them there. It might take longer at this level but people want results now.
"Once I get the back four how I want it and the fullbacks return, things will improve."
Meanwhile, tonight's UniBond League Challenge Cup result against Kendal Town is not important to ROSSENDALE UNITED manager Mark Molyneaux.
The Dark Lane boss blasted his side after losing 3-2 at home to Ossett Albion and said he will not hesitate in ringing the changes for tonight's trip to Kendal.
"There will probably eight or nine changes tonight because I'm not happy with the work-rate of some players," he said.
"They think if they play well and lose, that's okay. It might have been in the past, but it's not now. There isn't enough hurt when they lose.
"But we're not bothered about the result tonight because we're going to look to try a couple of different avenues to prepare for our league games because we're desperate to get some points on the board.
"If those fringe players who come in tonight impress me, they'll be considered for Saturday."
IN the North West Counties Division One, COLNE travel to Salford City, while in Division Two, NELSON take on Flixton away.
