FRUSTRATED Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman believes the time may have come to delve into the transfer market.

The Reds boss blamed his strikeforce just as much as his defence for Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Scarborough.

A string of missed chances, particularly in the second half, infuriated Coleman.

And he is keen to put pressure on his current squad by bringing in some new faces.

"There's no excuse for it because professional footballers shouldn't miss chances like that. Not on a regular basis," he said.

"I've said it before and it might be time for me to bring some fresh blood in because you can't keep missing chances like that and expect to win anything, or be successful.

"I honestly don't think you can practice finishing.

"You do it out of course because I think players enjoy finishing in training.

"But you can't replicate the situation that you have in front of goal.

"When people freeze in front of goal on a matchday, they're going to freeze every time, no matter how many times they practice at it."

He added: "The (Scarborough) keeper made two wonderful saves, but there's no excuse for missing the target from four yards. There's no excuse for not going in and sliding the ball into the net when it's stopped on the line and you're standing round waiting for someone to do it for you.

"We're a team that gets genuinely disappointed when we miss chances, and you can see it in our body language and we go on our back foot then.

"But you've got to have that bit of hunger and we haven't got it in front of goal at the moment. And if it doesn't change we're going to have to bring somebody in."
