A BURNLEY taxi firm has been given three months to tear down its town centre base - as it is ruining the look of the area.
Councillors confirmed the enforcement notice on AA Taxis. The firm had been fighting with Burnley Council over the eyesore building in Hammerton Street for more than two years.
But a public inquiry found in favour of the authority and the firm has been told to get rid of the temporary structure - formerly a car sales pitch - on land off Cow Lane.
The inquiry in July found the building - at the entrance to the town centre conservation area - was out of place and spoiling views into Hammerton Street from Queen's Lancashire Way. The ruling is the latest twist in a long-running saga with the taxi business, which has lasted more than four years and has cost the council almost £5,000 in legal fees.
Two years ago, the council agreed an application for the firm to move to a new base on condition the Cow Lane structure - on the site since 1993 - was removed. But the business has stalled for a year.
