SEVEN new Neighbourhood Watch signs have been purchased for Lindsay Park but Burnley Borough Council has been unable to erect them, parish councillors have been told.
Upon further investigation by the parish cerk it has been found that the borough council are allowed to erect the signs but they need to have rounded corners otherwise the borough cannot put them up. Now the signs are set to be amended so they can be put in place.
LANCASHIRE County Council has received an application regarding Rowley Landfill site to extend the period for restoration to May 31, 2005, as Sita has been unable to complete all the restoration by September 30, 2004. So far the site has been fully capped in accordance with Environment Agency requirments and almost fully soiled -- although this work has been delayed by the exceptional weather conditions in late summer.
The final planting and seeding has been delayed because the gas company have been unable to install the gas pipework in the soil layer due to technical difficulties.
THE next meeting of the parish council will discuss a letter from Barry Robinson who is the Project Manager of 'Communities Reducing Crime and Disorder'. This project has now received a substantial amount of money is able to offer community and voluntary organisations grants of up to £5,000 for environmental improvements such as aggressive shrubbery or improving sight lines; security improvements; the prevention of anti-social behaviour, youth nuisance and vandalism; local self-help initiatives aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime; making existing open spaces more usable. Deadline for applications is November 12, 2004. Would residents please feed any ideas to Parish Councils. The Parish Council next meets on Tuesday, November 7 at 7.45pm in the Reading Rooms.
