COLNE moved into the top six in the North West Counties Division One table thanks to their second consecutive away win.

After missing a couple of good chances, Colne made the breakthrough on nine minutes when a move involving James Webster and Carl Haworth ended with Scott Gizon free in the area to stroke the ball home.

Colne lost Paul Forsyth with a hamstring injury and his replacement, Steve Cunningham, was soon in action to double the lead with a looping header from Simpson's cross in the 40th minute.

The Reds added a third 10 minutes into the second half when Gizon headed on Paul Walker's long throw for Kieran Roberts to tap in from close range.

Substitute Chris Ingham was later on hand to bundle home Colne's fourth after the home keeper failed to hold his initial effort.

A mistake by keeper Ross Baxter let Salford in for a simple goal before poor defending allowed them a second.

However, the Reds stepped up a gear in the last 10 minutes. City gave the ball away and were caught on the break for David Gray to complete the rout.
