A SECOND man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of father-of-four Rob Johnston.
The 25-year-old from Bury was detained at his home and was questioned on Tuesday by murder squad detectives.
He was released on police bail last night and will now report back to police on December 20.
Mr Johnston, of Levens Drive, Breightmet, was kicked to death following a night out in Bolton town centre on Friday, October 15, to celebrate his 39th birthday. He was walking home with his best friend Darren O'Donaghue along Saville Street the following morning at around 2.45am when they got into an argument with two men and were both attacked.
Mr Johnston died eight hours later in hospital from serious head and face injuries.
Several appeal for information about the brutal attack have been made. Detectives released CCTV footage of two men seen running away from Breightmet Street onto Bradshawgate at around the time of the incident.
They also appealed for the driver of a silver Peugeot 106 which drove past the scene to come forward.
A 25-year-old man from Halliwell who was arrested last week in connection with the murder was released on bail on Monday. He will also report back to police on December 20.
