A DAUGHTER'S poor attendance and lateness at school has cost a Radcliffe mother £350.
Parent Lyndsey Enion, of Bright Street, failed to appear before Bury magistrates on Thursday but was fined £200 and ordered to pay £150 costs to Bury Council.
The court heard that her ten-year-old daughter failed to attend school regularly and had a history of lateness when she did.
The child, a pupil at Radcliffe Hall Primary School, attended on 68 out of a possible 90 occasions between May 10 and July 16 this year.
Magistrates heard that concerns about the daughter's attendance and punctuality were first raised in 1999 and again in 2001 with dozens of home visits from education welfare officers and warning letters trying to sort out the problem.
The child was late on more than 300 occasions.
The court was told that further efforts were made this year to improve the girl's behaviour but these were largely ignored by Enion who, on one occasion, slammed the door on an education welfare officer.
