REGARDING your story (LET, October 18), about the damage done to the house in Whitehall Terrace, Darwen, would you please note that this is not the only damage done to houses in this district.
Other houses have been targeted with windows being broken and damage to doors.
This is not an isolated case and knowing a lot of the residents of the area, there is no way that these people would be responsible for such actions.
My daughter and her husband live on Whitehall Terrace and they bought their family home in a quiet residential area hoping to bring up their children in a quiet decent environment.
When the house next door was sold, they hoped to get good neighbours with whom they could be friendly.
They have no objections to a children's home fostering children.
But they do object to a business being run from a family home next door, employing nine staff to look after "disruptive and challenging" boys, from the Blackburn and Darwen area.
I am most concerned for the safety of my grandchildren and hope that the wishes of the Whitehall residents will be listened to when a decision is made.
MRS E SPEAKMAN, Northfield Road, Blackburn.
