AFTER 60 sparkling years of marriage, Ronald and Eunice May Taylor have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
Ronald and Eunice, of Byrom Street, Woolford, first met at the Palais in Bury, after Eunice was evacuated from Kent during the war.
The couple, both in their 80s, were married at All Saints Church in Whitefield and moved to Byrom Street after Ronald was demobbed from the Royal Navy 58 years ago.
Eunice spent seven years working in the Army pay office in Radcliffe before the couple raised a family of two daughters and one son.
She returned to work in the schools meal service and stayed until she retired and Ronald worked as a saw doctor in Ramsbottom.
To celebrate the special anniversary, the couple joined their family, along with two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, at St James Church, Woolford, where they have worshipped for more than 50 years.
Following the service, the couple enjoyed a family meal cooked by their daughters.
Eunice, also known as May to her friends, said: "It was a lovely day and a beautiful meal. I have enjoyed married life to Ronald. You have your ups and downs but youve got to take the rough with the smooth."
