ASTLEY & Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club have signed up a European champion.
Twenty-one-year-old Polish star Damian Zareba has agreed to race for A & T full time throughout the 2005 season. Zareba has arrived in England and has already had two training sessions with the club.
Astley & Tyldesley team manager Mike Hack is absolutely delighted to have secured the services of the current European Champion.
He said: "Damian Zareba is a rider whose progress I have followed carefully since first seeing him in action at the 2000 European Junior Final in Poland, when he would have taken the title had it not been for a costly machine failure.
"With Przemek Binkowski returning to Poland for domestic reasons, we had a vacancy in our line-up and we are delighted to have secured so quickly the services of such a top class rider to spearhead our challenge next season.
"His presence will prove to be a massive boost to the team and provide a role model for the club's younger riders, as A & T look to continue their improvement next year."
