POLICE are trying to trace four people following an assault in Burnley which left a man seriously ill in hospital.
The victim was left with 'substantial head injuries' following the alleged attack in Planet Pizza, Croft Street, at 1.45am on Saturday. He is said to be recovering well.
DC Paul Hanson said: "There were a large number of people in Planet Pizza at the time and they must have seen the events that took place. We are particularly appealing for four people to come forward who may be able to help us with our inquiries."
Police would like to speak to three men and a woman, who were all in their late teens or early 20s, about the attack. One man was described as white, slim build, wearing a grey short sleeve T-shirt with a black patch pocket on the chest. He had dark hair shaved at the sides but spiky on top and a tanned complexion.
He was with a woman with long dark wavy black hair, wearing a grey jacket, black top and denim jeans.
The second man was white, of medium build, wearing a white baggy shirt and jeans, had dark hair which was spikey on top and shorter round the ears.
The third man was white, has a fresh complexion, tall, appeared to have dyed blond hair which was straggly and came over his ears. He wore a grey cardigan, white T-shirt and dark blue jeans. There is a suggestion the men may be related to each other.
Police would also like to hear from any taxi drivers in Burnley town centre who may have picked people up from Planet Pizza, particularly any 'blood-stained' passengers.
Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or DC Hanson on 01282 472241.
