A DARWEN animal lover called on the community to help her raise the money to buy a retiring horse.
Thirteen year-old Bobby had served British Railways for eight years, but was being replaced by machinery. Joan Hamilton of Eccleshill Cottages, vowed to raise £50 to buy him from the company and arranged a place for him in a Carlisle horse retirement home where he could enjoy his final years.
