POLICE called to a disturbance in a Blackburn pub were flagged down by a hysterical female.
Blackburn magistrates heard that as the officers were dealing with the woman, a man ran round the corner brandishing two kitchen knives.
Campbell James Lebeau, 23, of Douglas Place, pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon.
He was remanded on bail until November 19 after the magistrates ordered the preparation of pre-sentence reports. Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said that when Lebeau ran round the corner he was waving the knives above his head.
"His face was contorted with anger and he was shouting that he was going to kill someone," said Mr Robinson.
When he saw the officers Lebeau turned and ran off, but he was chased and struck with a baton which caused him to throw down the knives.
Michael Blacklidge, defending, said Lebeau had been in the Stanley Arms with his pregnant girlfriend when a fight broke out.
"His girlfriend was knocked to the floor and he saw her being kicked," said Mr Blacklidge.
"He was angry and was ushered out of the pub.
"He returned home expecting his girlfriend to be there and when she wasn't he foolishly armed himself with these two knives before returning."
