North West Counties League Division One
Atherton Colls 4 Abbey Hey (Manchester ) 2
AFTER a number of excellent performances against highly placed teams in recent weeks without having much luck, Colls entertained Abbey Hey last Saturday and deservedly won 4-2.
On a pitch soddened by heavy rain, Colls dominated from the outset and the visitors keeper had to be on good form to keep the local side's strikeforce at bay.
Colls took the lead on 25 minutes when Nick Fisher was put in the clear and he drew the keeper before beating him from close range. The same player doubled the score a couple of minutes later with a fierce drive from 20 yards.
Abbey Hey only looked dangerous on the break and Colls could have added further goals before the interval.
What a difference in the second half, when for the first 15 minutes the visitors dominated the proceedings, and it was no surprise when they pulled a goal back on 49 minutes through a Beni Haim penalty.
Steve Hughes settled the home supporters nerves on 65 minutes with a cooly finished goal, but Peter Wall made it 3-2 with 15 minutes remaining, scoring direct from a free kick after a clumsy challenge.
The points were sealed with five minutes remaining when clever play by Chris Dalton put Fisher clear to complete his hat trick.
