THE MAYOR of Burnley, Coun Margaret Lishman hosted a charity dinner and dance and spoke of her dream of helping provide a better future for sick children in Burnley.
Civic leaders from across Lancashire joined the Mayor at the charity event in the James Hargreaves suite at Turf Moor last night to raise cash for a high dependency unit on the children's ward at Burnley General Hospital.
Hundreds of people enjoyed a dinner, stand-up bingo and charity auction, including a signed Burnley FC, shirt before singer Tam Ryan entertained the guests during the cabaret.
Other guests helping the mayor's charity bid were the new Recorder of Burnley, Judge Barbara Watson and representatives from the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.
