NELSON residents are continuing to fight against plans to change the town's namesake to Last Orders.
Honeycombe Leisure PLC have taken over the Lord Nelson pub, Leeds Road, and announced last month they were going to rechristen it. But people living in the town are furious because the pub gave Nelson its name.
Now a group of residents have written to Honeycombe Leisure PLC demanding the company leaves their heritage alone.
In a letter to the Preston-based firm, Gordon Edgerley, of Caldbeck Close, wrote: "The only 'last orders' to you and your company is to go back to your 'honeycombe' and do some quick buzzing and reconsider your decision.
"We may need fresh impetus in Nelson but we don't need a total destruction of our heritage."
The Lord Nelson will celebrate its bicentenary next year. The pub is currently closed for refurbishment and is expected to open later this month.
