BRIERFIELD and Reedley councillors are set to turn down mobile phone company O2's mast plans for the second month running.
The company wants to put a telecommunications base station with a 19.5-metre-high mast and six antennae at the north end of North West Reclamation Ltd's merchants yard in Railway Street, Brierfield.
But Brierfield Town Council has objected because it is too close to housing and a children's play area. And Pendle Council officers have said the mast would be out of keeping with the area and that O2 has not tried hard enough to find alternative sites for the mast.
Last month Brierfield and Reedley Area Committee turned down O2's application for a 20-metre mast at Belvedere and Caldervale Sports Club, Holden Road, Reedley.
A similar plan for the southern end of the North West Reclamation site by Hutchison 3G was rejected in September.
Councillors have been advised to refuse the scheme when they meet in Brierfield Town Hall on November 9 at 7pm.
