I'M writing about the expenses that MPs get. They get £57,845 salary and then the allowances they claim, which in some cases treble their salaries.
Some MPs have "personal fortunes" and they still get these allowances in full. To me this should not happen, they should be means tested for their allowances just like people get means tested when you claim DSS or pensions.
Just think if they cut back on the MPs' allowances they might be able to pay more to the pensioners, get more police, nurses, doctors, teachers, dentists etc.
I do hope that the councillors will also think about their accommodation allowances and rethink the £180 they can claim. The people have the power to change things in Government and on the council so I do hope they will reconsider things.
