ON the subject of motorway driving, I drive 150 miles a day, every day.
Bob Stevens is of course correct according to the law. I would think at times though that the law is an ass. I will go so far as to say most accidents on the motorways are caused by traffic changing lanes.
I would reduce speeds to 60mph, no "fast lanes", no "slow lanes", as in America.
I would also bring in the rule that if you need your wipers you need your lights.
That would stop the idiots doing a ton in filthy weather with no lights and visibility at only a few yards.
What is supposed to be a lane for overtaking has become a fast lane. Every day I see a middle lane deserted and the so-called fast lane chocker block.
With signs all the way down the M6 saying don't hog the middle lane, if I find I've got the whole lane to myself why not drive down it?
