I HAVE written letters on many occasion regarding Blackburn Town Centre needing a huge "make-over".
The centre is stuck in the 1970s.
The EN magazine editor was right in some of the comments saying many major retailers have deserted the town and leaving behind trail of sex shops, charity outlets, kebab houses and gambling arcades.
The evidence is there to see, just walk down Church Street, Darwen Street, Northgate, King Street and Lord Square, empty shop premises, charity outlets, kebab houses and gambling arcades.
Blackburn has a beautiful cathedral, King George's Hall, library, museum, but the town centre needs a huge make-over.
The shopping centre needs to be brought into the 21st century, Lord Square is badly needing investment, the town centre needs a four-star or five-star hotel and the former police station building is the most perfect building for one to be built.
On the other side of Blackburn has made enormous progress since the M65 link was completed, the M65 industrial corridors have attracted investment, many new industries have been built, service station, out of town superstores, soccer dome, super hospital and a multi-screen cinema is under construction.
The town's future looks good and positive.
