PHIL Starbuck says Leigh RMI can go on a fairytale cup run after making the First Round of the FA Cup for the third time in seven seasons.
The boss described the win at Accrington as "the biggest win in the club's history" for both financial and footballing reasons as RMI went on to draw Conference South side Cambridge City.
"I think it's a great draw for us because it gives us every chance of reaching the second round", said an excited Starbuck.
"We know that we have been playing well all season and that hasn't been reflected by the results but if we can make it through then we could be 90 minutes away from playing a Premiership club."
Cambridge City live in the shadows of their League 2 neighbours United.
But the chance of going further in the cup than their more illustrious rivals is likely to attract a hefty crowd to their 5,000 capacity City Ground on November 13.
For Leigh, the chance of emulating the sides who went on to play Fulham and Millwall under Steve Waywell's tutelage could offer a sizeable boost in attendances at a critical time.
Starbuck's hoping to send a scout on a spying mission to watch Cambridge play their FA Trophy tie with Cinderford Town on Saturday.
But in the meantime, he has to place the feet of his players firmly on the ground with league action against Tamworth coming up.
"It'll be quite easy to get the lads focused on the game because that's what they get paid for", quipped Starbuck.
"We know that Tamworth are a good side and we know the way they play, so if we work hard, there's no reason why we can't get a kick start to our Conference season as well."
