After winning the LDV Vans Trophy twice in the last three years Blackpool are looking to go all the way again, but they were made to work on Tuesday to make it to the Third Round.
After battling to a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield on Saturday, in the league, they were expecting another tough meeting with the Yorkshire side just three days later, but few few would bet on the final scoreline in this one.
Once again the scores were level after 90 minutes, Matthew Blinkhorn's brace cancelled out by strikes from McAlliskey and Schofield so extra time beckoned.
Keigan Parker fired Pool ahead, with only his second goal of the season, the other coming in the First Round win over York City before Jamie Burns made it 4-2 on 100 minutes.
Danny Coid got in on the act four minutes later to make it 5-2 before Ahmed gave the visitors a glimmer of hope with his first senior goal.
It was all over on110 minutes, Jamie Burns with his second of the night to send Blackpool into the Northern Section Quarter Finals.
They were joined in Saturday's draw by Oldham Athletic, Tranmere Rovers, Hartlepool, Chester, Doncaster, Macclesfield and Wrexham.
The draw will be made at approximately 9.30 on Saturday on Sky Sports Soccer AM programme.
