THE ThreeTowns Operatic Society have collected a nationwide award, thanks to the artistic talent of their programme designer.
Kathryn Smethurst has lifted the Best Show Programme for 2003 with her production for the groups performance of "Orpheus in the Underworld"
She has won the north west award for the past three consecutive years, but national glory came as a surprise.
Society chairman Bob Horrocks said: "We are very proud of Kathryns achievement, this is just one example of the enthusiasm and talent within our society and is exciting news at the start of the groups concert season."
The competition is organised by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association and Kathryn received her trophy from Ken Webb, NODA North West Area Councillor who insisted on presenting the trophy personally.
The society will be appearing in concert at Lowton Civic Hall on Friday and Saturday, November 19 and 20 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £6 and are available on 01942 883722.
