A MAN has been charged with assault after a prostitute working in a massage parlour suffered serious head injuries.
The 43-year-old woman, who has not been named by police, was allegedly attacked at the premises in Briercliffe Road, Burnley.
Police said the incident involved an iron bar.
Det Sgt Derry Crocken, said the woman suffered 19 different injuries, including a suspected fractured skull, a broken wrist and extensive bruising to the rest of his body.
She was taken to Burnley General Hospital where she remained overnight.
David Herbert, 39, of Oldham, has been arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm and robbery. He was due to appear before Burnley Magistrates today.
