RELIEF is on the way for residents and visitors to Radcliffe, left high and dry by vandalised toilets in the town centre.

During the next few weeks, the public toilets situated off Market Place will be demolished to make way for a new state-of-the-art automatic loo provided by Bury Council.

The automated toilets, which will be linked to a central control station, is similar to those already installed at Kay Gardens, Bury, and the Longfield Centre in Prestwich.

Councillor Mike Connolly, the council's executive member for environment and transport, said:"I welcome the decision to install the new unit which will replace the existing outdated ones.

"The new unit will be fully accessible including baby changing facilities and be self -cleaning."

The new unit will save taxpayers' money in the long term, with all associated maintenance costs being borne by Adshel, the supplier. Any faults within the new units are registered automatically with a central control station for remedial action.
