Iain Hume has turned down a move to Preston North End, after admitting that he's happy at Prenton Park.

The Tranmere striker met with his representatives and Tranmere officials on Thursday to discuss a potential move to Deepdale but decided he wanted to stay and help Rovers win promotion.

The Canadian international was deemed the ideal replacement for the newly departed David Healy and a fee was agreed between the two sides on Tuesday, after Preston agreed to match the asking price but now North End must turn their attentions elsewhere.

Tranmere currently sit second in League Two, with Hume the leading scorer and after boss Brian Little revealed his desire to keep the 21-year-old the move was rejected.

But there could be better news as far as another target is concerned, with more news set to follow.
