TIME could be called on plans for a shop and flat complex on the site of a former Prestwich pub next week.
Planners have recommended that permission for the development, at the derelict George Hotel on Bury New Road, be refused.
Proposals, by developers BTS Property Ltd, include a three story shop and flat complex on Bury New Road and a separate block of apartments on George Street.
A bowling green to the rear of the pub building would be made into a tennis court, and the scheme would include a public area on George Street.
Members of Bury Councils planning control committee will be asked to decide on the matter onTuesday.
But planning officials say in a report that the scheme should be turned down due to potential traffic problems and the design not being in keeping with its surroundings.
Residents living nearby had complained that there would be an increase in on-street parking, and said that extra traffic created would be dangerous.
The meeting at Bury Town Halls Peel Room begins at 7pm.
