NUISANCE youths playing with fireworks gave police one of the busiest Bonfire Nights on record.
Inspector Stuart Bruce, said: "It was an extremely busy night, filled with minor incidents of kids messing around with fireworks.
"These nuisance incidents were constant throughout the night.
"We went to lots of firework -elated incidents where alarms had been triggered. And we had some calls from elderly people who were getting upset because of the noise and proximity of fireworks."
The fire service had a similarly busy night, putting out bonfires which had got out of control but reported no major incidents.
Local ambulance crews were busy but said bonfire night passed without incident for them.
At 1.30am today, Accident and Emergency staff at Burnley General said they had not treated anyone for burn-related injuries although a Nelson ambulance crew were called to a bonfire a bonfire on Ringstone Crescent where a boy had a bad gash to his leg, believed to have been sustained by jumping over the remains of a bonfire.
