I WAS most interested to read in the Bury Times (October 26) of the Bury Grammar School (Girls) recent trip to Peru.
My grandson - son of former BGS pupil, Jane Ward - spent his summer holiday from Nottingham University in Peru two years ago. He had to raise £6,000 to fund his visit.
He went to help the poor people of Peru - building roads, teaching in the local school, attempting to teach the children to play cricket etc. Occasionally, when he had a day off, he went exploring in the same mountains that the BGS girls visited. He spent a month there and, although he had to work very hard, he thoroughly enjoyed it.
