WELL done to Bury Council's planning control committee for rejecting recent applications for development within the Green Belt around Bury.
Mr Horrocks (Letters, Oct 22) was so right when he said that the Green Belt is one of Bury's priceless assets, to be retained at all costs. The vision of the council to refuse encroachment under the cloak of recreational pursuits is to be applauded. The Green Belt is our legacy and, through the Unitary Development Plan, it should remain to benefit future generations.
I trust the planning control committee will use its proven judgement when the application to destroy both a visual and recreational amenity in the Lowercroft neighbourhood is heard on Tuesday.
