WE were pleased to read that yet another application from Peel Homes to build at Spen Moor was rejected by the council.
It appears from recent letters in the Bury Times that nearly all of the borough's Green Belt is under threat from one development or another.
The latest ploy to get into the Green Belt is to say it is for recreation or leisure purposes. Some developers state that the facilities will be available for disabled people and, as such, ought to be welcomed. But once the Green Belt is gone, it's gone for ever. What remains should be left alone. It costs nothing for a family to spend time together, walking or playing games. Not everyone wants to have their leisure time decided by developers.
